- BLUE DAHLIA, SAUGATUCK CENTER FOR THE ARTS, 400 CULVER ST, SAUGATUCK.
8:00pm. This late silent movie shows off the considerable talents of its director, Paul Leni, as the camera prowls the environs of an old dark house with the gracefulness of a cat, while the actors bob around like canaries, forming uneasy alliances and plotting against one another. The Cat and the Canary is a key film of the silent era, and was hugely influential in kicking off the old dark house genre that continued into the early talkie period. There have been dozens remakes and imitations over the years, but the dark, Gothic beauty of the original has never been surpassed. Blue Dahlia has created a wonderfully eerie, slinky score to compliment this masterpiece. 269-857-2399

- Blue Dahlia presents "The Cat and the Canary", Saugatuck Center for the Arts, 400 Culver Street in Saugatuck.
The “Cat and the Canary" story concerns the death and inheritance of old Cyrus West, a rich eccentric who felt that his relatives "have watched my wealth as if they were cats, and I -- a canary". He decrees that his will be read twenty years after his death, at which point his relatives converge at his old family home, now a spooky old haunted mansion. The will reads that his most distant relative still bearing the name of West be sole heir provided they are legally sane. The rest of the night spent in the house calls into question the sanity of Annabelle West, a fragile young woman who is legally Cyrus West's heir. (269) 857-2399
