    7:30 PM "The Emerald Diamond" is a 90-minute documentary about the Irish National Baseball Team. The film's budget of $70,000 was financed on credit cards by first-time filmmaker John Fitzgerald. The film debuted to a sold out crowd in New York on February 25, 2006 and has been seen in over 20 theaters across the country since then. It has been featured by The New York Times, New York Post, Fox News and National Public Radio. Do they really play baseball in Ireland? Yes!! Baseball has been played in Ireland since the early 1990s. The Irish National Team made its debut in the 1996 European Championships in England. There, nurtured by the musicians in the local old-time and Celtic music circles, they began to absorb the traditions associated with fiddle music and percussive dancing. Bill learned folksongs from his father, Budd traveled with his mother to fiddle jamborees, Nic learned his first dance steps by watching his parents in their kitchen, and Nellie attended Irish sessions and feisanna. He toured with a fusion jazz group "Clockwork" in the late 70's before returning to school to study music. After moving to San Diego in 1982 he has established himself as a session musician and live performer in L.A. and San Diego. He has performed with Carl Evans Jr. of Fattburger, J Michael Verta, Greg Vail, and a host of other top musicians and vocalists in the southern California region. His music can be heard on the radio, television, and the worldwide Muzak corporation. He has been nominated as one of San Diegos top jazz musicians. Patricks 1998 release, "A Lasting Embrace" has been heard internationally. One of the tracks off that release made it on to a 'best of' smooth jazz release in Europe entitled "The Soul of Smooth Jazz vol.2".
