All runners must register in advance and be able to run a minimum of 12 minutes per mile pace to race in the event. Advance registration begins starting January 1st and the race takes place on May 26th, beginning at 6am. Race headquarters are located at the Mackinaw City Recreation Complex/Ice Arena. The International Ironworker Festival, an annual event held each summer in Mackinaw City, attracts ironworkers from across the United States and Canada and engages them in some friendly competition. Although only ironworkers and retirees can compete in the skilled events, the festival is open to the general public and does offers lots of fun things to do and see! - Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk, Downtown Mackinaw City.
The annual trek across the 5-mile long Mackinac Bridge occurs on Labor Day, the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed on the bridge. Walkers begin in St. Ignace at the north end of the Bridge and walk south. The walk is one-way, and bus transportation is available to return you to St. Ignace. - Hopps of Fun Beer and Wine Festival, Festival grounds are located at Conkling Heritage Park along the waterfront in Mackinaw City.
Featuring an extensive sampling of 50+ award winning Michigan microbrewed beers and 60+ wines from Michigan's four internationally recognized wine regions. Brewmasters and winemakers will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the brewing and winemaking process. Admission is $5 and includes a collectible "Hopps of Fun" sampling wine glass good for the entire weekend. Participants purchase tasting tokens good for wine and beer. - Big Mac Shoreline Fall Scenic Bike Tour, Downtown Mackinaw City.
Over 300 participants celebrate a 25, 50, 75 or 100 mile bike tour along the shores of Lake Michigan. Routes are clearly marked and a number of rest areas dot the course.
