  • Chili-Dawg Challenge, Downtown Ionia.
    Come to Downtown Ionia from 4:30-8 p.m. and watch as local vendors see who can sell the most chili dogs first (using their secret recipes of course). The event in is conjunction with the Autumn Harvest Festival and includes trick-or-treating, carnival games for kids, and the evening ends with a chili-dog eating contest!   • HollidayFest, Downtown Portland, in Ionia County, exit 76 off of I-96 between Lansing and Grand Rapids.
    Join the Portland Community Arts Council and the merchants of downtown Portland for holiday fun! Event kicks off on Thursday at 6 pm with Ladies Night. Friday is Red Hat Ladies Day and Saturday is Family Day. Family Day includes cookie decorating for the kids, a chili cook-off, a wreath making class from the garden club, horse and buggy rides, caroling and hot cocoa, lighting of the city tree and Santa!! 517-647-6997
