  • Winterfest, Kalkaska County Fairgrounds and the Kaliseum Recreation Complex..
    Teams of dogs guided by mushers aged from five to 85 (approximately) race over a variety of courses starting at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Dogs of all sizes and breeds compete in weight pulling contests beginning at 2 pm. Chili cook-off on Saturday at noon. Also, sleigh rides, dog sled rides, entertainment, vendors, and crafts. There is no admittance fee. It is a great Kalkaska event. Phone for more information. (231) 258-9103

  • National Trout Festival, Village of Kalkaska.
    The last Saturday in April will be the 71st anniversary of the National Trout Festival. There is a carnival, craft show, car show, a flea market, games, horse shoe throwing tournament, fishing, parades, entertainment and a model plane air show.   • The Iceman Challenge, Kalkaska to Traverse City.
    This competitive 27-mile cross-country mountain bike race starts in the village of Kalkaska and follows a forest trail to Traverse City, often through snow and ice. For more information, call. (231) 922-5926
