    The annual Curwood Festival is held the first full weekend in June in honor of James Oliver Curwood (1878-1927), who wrote 33 popular adventure novels and who built Curwood Castle in his hometown, Owosso, as a writing studio. Each year Curwood Festival hosts a celebration of the City of Owosso's heritage with events including a carnival, arts & crafts, children's events, two parades, a volleyball tournament, a 10K run, 3-on-3 basketball tournament and much more.
